Anna Pizza is a recent addition to the Valley Village neighborhood of North Hollywood. It’s the first brick-and-mortar location from Fire and Wood Catering, bringing their taste of Italy, handed down from their Nonna (shoutout to the grandmothers), for our enjoyment.
After seeing this location on an Instagram reel from my foodie partner in crime, I wanted to visit this hidden gem before it became too popular and to see if it tasted as good as it looked online. And you know what? It pleasantly surprised me how good it was.
Here’s what I ordered, how the food tasted, what it cost, and whether Anna Pizza is actually worth visiting.

Where Is Anna Pizza Located?
Being located in North Hollywood, it’s especially popular with local foodies like us. There is also a nearby shopping mall, several high schools, and the Los Angeles Valley College, bringing in a range of clientele throughout the day.
Ambiance and Atmosphere at Anna Pizza
The atmosphere here is friendly with a cozy decor. This location is designed for intimate conversations and the warmth of a family dinner, with only five to six tables. You can tell by the decor that once you enter, you’ve entered the kind of Italian mom and pop shop you would expect to find on the East Coast, with numerous photos of the staff, family gatherings, and memorable events lining the walls.
What I Ordered at Anna Pizza
- Arancini: Three Sicilian Arborio Rice Balls Served on a Bed of Whipped Ricotta Cheese, Blanketed with Creamy Vodka Sauce and Topped with Fresh Basil.
- Rigatoni Alla Vodka: Rigatoni tossed in signature creamy vodka sauce.
- Cacaio E Pepe: Thick spaghetti tossed in a rich, creamy pecorino romano sauce, finished with fresh black pepper.
- Rubina’s Pasta: Armenian Style, thick spaghetti in a Yerevan-style red sauce, mixed with fresh ground beef.
- Dragon Pizza: Pomodoro sauce, cremini mushroom, fresh jalapeno, and cupping pepperoni, topped with mozzarella.
How the Food Tastes
Anna Pizza prides itself on sourcing fresh, locally grown ingredients and traditional Italian flavors in all its dishes.
- Flavor: It’s bold and rich.
- Portion Size: Each dish is large enough for two people. It’s a great way to mix and match different dishes to sample.
- Presentation: You have the standard presentation with no unique twists.
Best Dishes at Anna Pizza
If it’s your first visit, I would recommend Rubina’s Pasta for those who don’t mind a little extra kick in their meal. It really stands out with the added Armenian spices, making it a creative change to a traditional meaty Bolognese sauce.
The Rigatoni Alla Vodka is a close second. I’ve found very few places in this area that can capture that creamy richness.
Service & Dining Experience
The staff is more family than employee, from what I witnessed during my time here. Even the mother (the location’s namesake) of Chef Thomas works there on the weekends to help. Service at Anna Pizza was efficient and friendly. The staff were helpful, and the food arrived quickly as the crowd level was low this afternoon.
On a slow day, Thomas will happily come out for a quick break to talk shop and make sure you are enjoying your meal. We had a great chat about his transition from New York to Florida to California, Italian-American upbringing, finding a like-minded community in Los Angeles, and the current food industry.
Prices: Is Anna Pizza Worth the Cost?
Most dishes here cost between $14 – $30, which is reasonable for Los Angeles prices when compared to similar Italian restaurants. For these kinds of Italian flavors and fresh ingredients, it definitely is worth the cost.
Who Should Eat at Anna Pizza?
This restaurant is best for:
- Foodies visiting the Hollywood and Los Angeles area
- Couples and families looking for a small, quiet place to eat
- Pizza lovers
Conclusion: Should You Eat at Anna Pizza?
Overall, Anna Pizza in Valley Village is living up to its hype. It is well worth visiting if you have a craving for a delicious pasta night or want to grab a slice of pizza on your way home from work. I’d return so that I can keep eating my way through the menu. I guarantee they are going to start making some top-10 lists of food in Los Angeles.
